Policy Background

A ban introduced under PAS 2035:2019 and PAS 2030:2023 had prohibited metal or plastic cappings at eaves and verges for four years, after industry failures with traditional verge trims. This left roofline extensions as the only option for properties with insufficient roof overhangs — expensive and often impractical for mid-terrace homes — excluding many households from retrofit programmes. The NIA, SWIGA, and INCA formed a working group with Government, BSI, the Retrofit Standards Task Group, and TrustMark to develop new Design Principles and an updated Weathering Guide, enabling the safe reintroduction of Roofline Closure Systems.

WHAT WE OFFER

Products & Technical Support

We offer products and technical support to ensure clients can develop PAS-compliant solutions that meet TrustMark’s lodgement requirements. Our systems meet all relevant material specification requirements and can be configured to suit properties of different archetypes and environments. We also provide appropriate training for registered installers.

PAS Compliant

Fully compliant with PAS 2030/2035 standards and TrustMark lodgement requirements, supporting retrofit programme eligibility.

Quick Installation

Designed for efficient site installation, reducing labour time and programme disruption compared to full roofline extensions.

Thermal Protection

Provides effective thermal protection and actively prevents thermal bridging at critical eaves and verge junctions.

Secure & Resilient

Engineered for long-term durability in exposed environments, maintaining weathertight performance over time.

Mid-Terrace Friendly

Practical for mid-terrace and other properties where roofline extensions are not architecturally or structurally feasible.

Installer Training

Permarock provides accredited training for registered installers to ensure correct specification and installation every time.

ACHIEVING COMPLIANCE

Routes to Compliance

There are two routes via which Retrofit Designers can develop PAS-compliant designs using Roofline Closure Systems.

Standard Design Details

Use one of the 13 standard details included in the official Weathering Guide (August 2024). These pre-approved details provide a straightforward path to compliance for common property archetypes and conditions.
