For multi-storey buildings with floor levels above 11 metres above ground level, Permarock Mineral Fibre EWI Systems should be specified.

Featuring non-combustible, A1-rated stone wool insulation, the system meets the latest UK fire safety guidance, standards and Building Regulations. It has an unparalleled record, having been retrofitted to over 250+ high-rise buildings throughout the UK over the past four decades.

Download our latest high-rise cladding brochure to understand how Permarock Mineral Fibre External Wall Insulation systems comply with the latest Building Regulations with respect to high-rise buildings.

The brochure sets out our unparalleled experience within this sector. Featuring real-world examples, it shows how Permarock systems have prevented the spread of fire and remained securely attached to the wall face when exposed to high-rise fires.

EWI Systems for Recladding Projects

In the wake of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, the UK Government amended the Building Regulations to prohibit the use of combustible materials in the external walls of residential buildings with a floor height of 11 metres or more. The decision followed a detailed review of fire safety, and it applies to all such properties in England containing at least one dwelling.

The change in policy has prompted many building owners to commission recladding projects. The work entails stripping out non-compliant rainscreen and insulated render products and replacing them with systems that achieve a European Classification of at least “A2-s1, d0”.

These classifications are taken from BS EN 13501-1 “Fire classification of construction products and building elements. Classification using data from reaction to fire tests.” No other fire test methods or national classifications are recognised when specifying materials for residential buildings of this type. As we explain in our section on Fire Safety, BS EN 13501 is the only route to compliance.

Strip & Reclad Projects

Since the introduction of the Building (Amendment) Regulations 2018, Permarock Mineral Fibre EWI systems have been used on recladding schemes throughout Britain. Examples can be viewed in our Case Studies section.
