EXTERNAL WALL INSULATION SYSTEMS / LAMELLA /
TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE
ACCREDITATION
The system has been fully tested and will withstand extremes of temperature, wind, fog, frost and water penetration. The system has excellent water vapour permeability and will allow surfaces to 'breathe'. The system is currently undergoing assessment towards third party accreditation.
AIR LEAKAGE
Buildings that are clad with the PermaRock Lamella System will exhibit minimal air leakage through the external wall.
CONDENSATION CONTROL
PermaRock advises assessment of condensation risk in accordance with BS 5250. Full and comprehensive condensation risk and U-value analyses can be provided for specific wall constructions under any combination of environmental conditions and for any building usage.
DENSITY
PermaRock Lamella Insulation boards have a density of approximately 90 kg/m3.
DURABILITY
The system is anticipated to provide in excess of 30 years continuous performance.
ENVIRONMENTAL
Buildings insulated with the PermaRock Lamella System can achieve very low U-values resulting in considerable heat loss reductions and energy savings.
The use of the PermaRock Lamella system can therefore contribute towards reducing CO2 emissions. The system is CFC and HCFC free and does not employ ozone depleting chemicals during manufacture - the system has zero ozone depletion potential (ODP). PermaRock Lamella insulation boards (60 mm thick) have an embodied energy of approx. 75.3 MJ/m2.
FIRE PERFORMANCE
The system achieves a Class O rating with reference to the appropriate Building Regulations when tested in accordance with BS 476 Parts 6 and 7.
IMPACT RESISTANCE
The system incorporating standard reinforcing mesh will provide adequate levels of resistance to hard body impact for most locations. Additional resistance to impact is achieved through the incorporation of PermaRock Armour mesh into the basecoat.
VAPOUR PERMEABILITY
The system is capable of water vapour diffusion. PermaRock Lamella insulation has a vapour resistivity of 0.143 MNs/gm.
WATER RESISTANCE
In-house testing and extensive assessment by BRE-Certifications confirms that the system withstands water penetration. The system is suitable for geographical areas including those classified as having very severe exposure to wind driven rain (BS 5628: Part 3 and BS 8104).
WIND RESISTANCE
The system is designed to withstand high levels of wind load and suction pressure and is suitable for application in very severe exposure locations. Wind loadings should be calculated in accordance with BS 6399: Part 2: 1997.
