EXTERNAL WALL INSULATION /

CODE FOR SUSTAINABLE HOMES /

With the increased importance being placed on more sustainable products, the use of PermaRock external wall insulation (ewi) systems can help towards the creation of effective and efficient sustainable new and existing buildings.

PermaRock external wall insulation systems can help contribute to a more sustainable building solution through the following:-

  • Many of PermaRock’s ewi systems are CFC and HCFC free and do not employ ozone depleting chemicals in their manufacture: with the insulation having zero ozone depletion potential (zero-ODP) and zero global warming potential (GWP).
  • PermaRock’s Mineral Fibre external wall insulation system is classified with an “A” rating in the current BRE “Green Guide to Specification” and can help contribute to a high BREEAM points score.
  • In the BRE publication, “The Green Guide to Housing Specification”, BR390, 2000, Mineral Fibre insulation with a density of 150 kg/m3 or less, (i.e.PermaRock mineral fibre insulation), is given a Summary Rating of ‘A’. Furthermore, polymer modified cementitious render systems on Mineral Fibre insulation, (i.e. the i.e. PermaRock mineral fibre insulation system), are given a Summary Rating of ‘A’.
  • PermaRock systems are included on the BRE website, www.greenbooklive.com, an online database designed to help specifiers and end users identify products and services that can help to reduce their impact on the environment.
  • PermaRock systems are also listed on the EST site, www.energysavingtrust.org.uk, confirming that PermaRock systems are among the most energy efficient in their category, helping reduce energy costs and preventing climate change.
