eaga plc

eaga is a leading outsourcing company. It is one of the largest national suppliers of heating and renewable energy and is at the forefront of the carbon economy.

A modern business driving the emerging ‘green’ agenda, we are a significant contributor to carbon reduction and are commited to delivering improvements in energy efficiency across the residential and commercial sectors.

We work with public bodies - local authorities, housing associations, government departments and agencies - schools, the third sector, and businesses as we seek to make better use of energy and water resources and deliver community programmes that make a lasting difference.

Delivering multiple area based programmes we have a long history in supporting the vulnerable and working with communities to help make peoples lives more comfortable. This remains a key part of the business proposition and will continue to be so as we look forward. We believe there is more we can do in supporting disadvantaged communities and creating low carbon neighbourhoods.

What do we do?

There are three core themes to our current business model:

  • Heating and Renewables – we are one of the UK’s leading providers of central heating systems, loft, cavity and external wall insulation, boiler replacement, servicing and repair. We inspect some 500,000 homes each year and employ more than 3,000 people in delivering this range of services. Our client base includes local authorities and housing associations as well as homeowners. In addition or installation teams will be leading our push into the renewables market where we are determined to establish ourselves as a leading provider.
  • Carbon Services – meeting the carbon reduction challenge and ensuring that eaga is a leader in terms of bringing innovative products and services to market are key functions of our Carbon Services team. In this context we work with the big six energy providers, the water utility companies and other organisations – private, public and third sector. Products such as ShowerSmart, Floodsax and the DrainBack solar thermal system are examples of our innovation. Our relationship with Scottish Power - where as their outsourced partner we deliver their Carbon Emission Reduction Target – is one we are particularly proud of.
  • Managed Services – delivering large scale and complex end to end outsourcing contracts our Managed Services Division has the capacity and expertise to take on front and back office services. Re-engineering operations and providing more customer intimate and outcome focused services is the core skill of our Managed Services team. Our contracts with the Department for Energy and Climate Change (Warmfront), the BBC (the digital switchover for the elderly and vulnerable) and the Legal Services Commission (telephone advice services). Most recently we have formed a joint venture with Newcastle City Council (The Real Partnership) to explore the scope for jointly delivering a wide range of public back and front office services.

How do we do it?

We deliver our services through our people [our partners]. They are our greatest strength and our ownership structure which means that some 37% of our business is owned by our people. This engenders a deep seated commitment to our values and business objectives.

Success in this evolving ‘green’ space will be driven by new and improving technology, finding ways of changing behaviour at an individual and community level and actions which secure the most efficient use of resources. In the context of these challenges being a market leader means building an organisation inspired by innovation. Our culture is therefore all about empowering our people, ensuring that they always look for new ideas, find different ways of delivering services and are continually seeking solutions.

Where are we going?

We believe that there is a real opportunity to build a business which stands out in this ‘green’ space – a business which can bring together concepts, technologies, funding and service models. In short our ambition is to join up the low carbon future. Without such organisations the targets for carbon reductions will not be achieved. However while we are passionate about the part we can play we recognise that success will only come if we can effectively engage with individuals and communities to embrace this new agenda and the behavioural changes that must go with it.
